It has been estimated that the eye muscles move more than 100,000 times a day. Many of these rapid eye movements take place during the dreaming phase of sleep. For an example, the levator muscle which control blinking can complete one blink in less than 1/10 of a second and human typically blink 12 times a minute, we blink on average 25000 times a day and about 4200000 times a year.
